Job description
Our Global Automotive technology supplier are looking to recruit a Software Process Engineer to join their team. Their products and systems are an important part of nearly every major vehicle manufactured around the world.
They are at the forefront of advanced technology and are in a unique position to shape the future of mobility. Based in Coventry at the heart of the UK automotive industry, they provide development engineering and account management for a number of car makers.
The key purpose of the role is to support the Powertrain Components & Systems Department with improving work efficiency through increased automation of software tools & databases and implementing systems to optimise productivity.
Key tasks:
· To develop software solutions to improve efficiency of working processes, e.g. data processing, administrative tasks, process automation, Key Performance Indicator (KPI) tracking systems.
· Process improvements for Confluence reporting database and transition of current processes to Power Apps.
· Support engineering teams with improving existing data processing and analysis tools, and support individuals with increasing their own capability for coding and tool development.
· To proactively define requirements and make software proposals, iterating to reach the optimum solution.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Personnel: Will be working within the Powertrain Components & Systems Department reporting to an (Assistant) Manager.
· Resources: Will need to manage own work schedule & tasks to the right quality based on assignments from Manager.
· Planning: Needs to be able to prioritise activity and be flexible in approach making sure that all activity is aligned to the higher-level purpose.
· Decisions: Needs to be able to deliver required work, determined through alignment with team leader, with the minimum of input (good ownership). Needs to be proactive in reporting, exhibiting good communication to demonstrate alignment.
Qualifications
• Good Degree or equivalent (e.g. 2:1 or higher a Software or Engineering discipline).
• Clear thinker, good communicator and pro-active attitude. Good at logical analysis of data and problem solving.
• Demonstrates clear ownership of tasks. Able to build relationships internally/externally.
• Experience using software development and project management tools, ideally Power Apps, Matlab, Confluence, O365.
