In this role, the Legal Costs Negotiator will be responsible for negotiating and settling the legal cost claims of successful parties in contentious cases. This involves handling various types of cases, from car accidents to claims for industrial diseases, deafness, and clinical negligence. The legal fees associated with these cases can range from a few thousand pounds to, in some instances, many millions of pounds, underscoring the significance of the work.

The duties of the role include:

• Managing individual case files
• Conducting costs litigation
• Drafting court documents and instructions to counsel
• Providing high-quality technical advice and support to teams
• Maintaining organized paper and electronic files
• Ensuring compliance with court deadlines, and conducting negotiations to reach settlements promptly on the best possible terms.

Notably, the successful candidate will need to uphold the highest professional standards, working in accordance with professional codes of practice, money laundering regulations, and regulatory requirements.
