Job description

Our client seeks a Data Governance Manager to join their team Role Profile: The Data Governance Manager will work closely with the Head of Data and Analytics, driving the implementation of data governance frameworks while acting as a senior advisor across the company on the best practice of data security development. The role holder will work on the design and implementation of practical data governance solutions to support organisational needs, establishing wider data management competencies within the organisation, such as data quality, metadata management, master data management, data modelling, and development of data standards and data strategy. The Data Governance Manager will also work alongside the Data Quality Manager and a team of Data Analysts to ensure the success of on-going projects, including creating a best-in-class data infrastructure. Key Responsibilities: Lead the formation, implementation and management of data governance frameworks, policies and standards. Implement and establish wider data management competencies within the organisation (such as data quality assurance, metadata management, master data management, data modelling, and development of data standards and data strategy)Be responsible for understanding and managing the organisational data risks and issues, and co-ordinating with data owners to accept or resolve them. Act as a senior advisor across the company on the best practice of data ownership, data stewardship and data security development, in accordance with the data enterprise architecture. Create and monitor the adherence to data governance policies, frameworks and standards. Advocate improved data risk management and practices within the organisation. Encourage better data literacy and understanding of data governance within the organisation. Deliver appraisals and 121 meetings. Monitor and log sickness within the team. Identify and assess positive digital change and automation opportunities. Approve holiday requests. Monitor and approve overtime, ensuring it is logged appropriately. Ensure team members progress with training and development. Ensure up to date training matrices. Monitor workflows and direct resources accordingly. Ensure incident reports are updated accordingly. Key Skills and Experience. The role holder should ideally hold or be working towards a data scientist or a data management qualification or have at least three years of experience in this area. At least three years' experience of working in a data governance related role), preferably within the finance or banking domain. Experience within a management position or team leader role, comfortable developing and coaching others and interacting with stakeholders at all levels. Be able to develop and present data oriented technical reports adapting the needs of all stakeholders. Any experience using data governance applications such as Microsoft Purview, Informatica, Collibra or Talend would be beneficial...
