Job description

The Governors of Hutton Church of England Grammar School are seeking to appoint an outstanding specialist with the skills and motivation to lead and manage our highly successful Maths department. The successful applicant will have responsibility for curriculum provision and development in Key Stages 3-5. This outstanding department has an excellent track record at both GCSE and A Level (Maths and Further Maths).

Your department will consist of 8 subject specialists with the majority able to teach A Level. Within the team structure you will have a second in department and a whole-school numeracy lead as well as a subject-specialist Teaching Assistant.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, forward thinking candidate with the following qualities to lead our passionate, hard-working team:

• to be a key member of our middle leadership team in driving our school curriculum forward  
• A passion for excellence in the teaching of Maths
• The ability to teach up to A Level Maths
• The ability to maintain and raise standards of student attainment and achievement
• the ability to monitor and pupil and student progress and design appropriate interventions
• The ability to effectively lead, manage and motivate staff within the team ensuring their access to appropriate CPD
• the capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues beyond the department and school
• Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills
