Job description

Part-Time Veterinary Surgeon
Purton Vets, Purton
Up to £68,000 FTE depending on experience, plus benefits

Find a supportive team and a world of opportunity at Purton Vets!

We’re on the hunt for a Vet with experience in small animal practice to join our talented team on a part-time basis. Duties include consulting and operating. Clinical experience is necessary as while we have a supportive clinical team there are periods where being able to work independently is a requirement; for example, at our branch surgery in Cricklade and also on a Saturday. The candidate will be required to work over 3 days during the week, with Monday and Tuesday working shorter hours to cover the evening and ideally all day on a Thursday. The candidate will also be required to work 1:5 Saturdays, 8.30am-4.30pm. There is no on-call or out-of-hours.

We are looking for a Vet with enthusiasm, good communication skills and the ability to work within a team.

A little about us

The practice is based in a lovely village that has a fabulous range of pubs, restaurants, leisure facilities and walking trails. Cotswold Water Park is just under 20 minutes from the practice!
All our vets and nurses have completed the ‘Fear Free’ training scheme.

We are a silver certificate cat-friendly clinic, and we consider the emotional well-being of our patients as important as their physical health. We have a range of good quality equipment including patient warming systems, infusion pumps, capnography, blood pressure, tonometry, dental x-ray, doppler ultrasound, flexible gastroscope, bronchoscope, rigid endoscopes, laparoscopy, and in-house blood testing.

Meet like-minded professionals

We’ve got a brilliant team of 4 vets, a team of qualified nurses, an animal care assistant and a reception team. The team are a close bunch! They normally meet up outside of work for meals, dog walks, coffee and local pub nights.

We regularly have specialists’ visitations to the practice. They set up clinics within the site, these are normally in Orthopaedics and Physiotherapy. We are proud to take the fear-free approach with our patients and are looking for someone who is of the same mindset. We support the local community where we can, attending local events, providing raffle prizes for charity events, and giving school talks.
