Job description
What you will do in your working day
This list is not considered to be exhaustive, but to provide an illustrative representation of the nature of the duties that the Apprentice will be involved in and the experience / development that will be gained.
- Purchase Ledger – Post supplier invoices to Sage50, reconcile supplier statements and request copy invoices and credit notes. Raise weekly/monthly payments in a timely manner.
- Sales Ledger – Invoice clients from data supplied.
- Credit Control – Take a proactive role in maintaining the debtor’s ledger, collecting overdue debt by telephone and email. Develop relationships with clients.
- Weekly Bookwork – Collate, check, file & chase up any missing book work.
- Analysing Data on Sage50 & Excel
- Reconciliation – Bank and Credit Card Accounts.
- Month End Checks I preparation for running monthly accounts.
- General Administration – General accounts tasks, various admin duties including but not limited to answering the phone, monitoring incoming emails, filing and more.
The training you will be getting
An Accounts or finance assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business.
The Accounts or finance assistant is responsible for assisting the team of accountants with junior accounting duties. It takes approximately 15 months to complete the apprenticeship and you will receive a blended method of learning including online learning and attending live online workshops, working towards achieving nationally recognised qualifications in:
- Level 2 Accounts / Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard
- Level 2 AAT qualification
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
- For the right person there will be the opportunity to progress to AAT Level 3 apprenticeship and take on added responsibility accordingly.
