THE OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Product Design team as Senior Creative Graphic Designer that will take ownership of packaging designs from ideation to creation. You will be driving the brands forward, increasing our positioning in the market as an affordable luxury brand. You will be actively progressing projects from conceptual stages all the way through to design delivery.
You will work directly with the Creative Director and Lead Designers to deliver new products on time and to budget. You will be responsible for leading packaging development including; communicating with suppliers, creative development and brand styling, whilst keeping the target audience in mind. You will be managing projects from start to finish with the wonderful opportunity to oversee and grow product personalisation.
We're looking for a candidate who considers themselves to be a passionate designer with mentoring qualities, that thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced retail environment. This role would be well suited to a packaging designer at a midweight level looking for their next step or an experienced senior graphic designer looking to further their career within a fast-paced retail environment.
This is a hybrid role, meaning you will be able to work from home and be based on our Head Office in Banbury, Oxfordshire 2 days a week on average, but may flex up or down dependent on business needs.

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE
- Leading by example for the team, sharing extensive knowledge of product, processes and competitors to further design practise; in addition to ensuring consistency when delivering a cohesive on-brand collection
- Providing a comprehensive understanding of the brand’s packaging development strategy and targets with the ability to direct junior members of the team to meet these goals
- Presenting concepts/ideas to the Creative Director and Lead Designer, providing updates at key points throughout the design process
- Managing critical paths and taking on other projects or responsibilities as required to meet deadlines
- Collaborating with other designers to manage any packaging concepts needed for the Joma Jewellery brand, alongside participating in group projects to meet tight deadlines
- Communicating clearly to design team managers and lead designers with progress of development, whilst monitoring targets to ensure the whole team are on track with quantities, targets and on budget
- Developing packaging and POS for our target market, designing freehand and using all adobe programs to create final artwork
- Being involved in all stages of the product and packaging development lifecycle, from research to identifying customer needs, concept curation and testing
- Designing to brief using anticipation of trends and understanding of brand heritage, whilst offering a good understanding of the customer and their lifestyle to ensure we are offering products for all their needs
- Having responsibility for specification sheet sign off on all designs, mentoring and coaching designers to deliver accurate specification sheets and samples
- Providing technical specifications and liaising with suppliers and factories
- Taking ownership of samples and modifying ideas based on design development
THE TALENT YOU'LL BRING
- A strong portfolio showcasing a proven ability deliver designs from a creative concept to finished samples within a relatable industry
- Strong visual communication, utilising your excellent AI and Photoshop proficiency and hand drawing skills
- Ability to demonstrate an exceptional level of accuracy in both written correspondence and numeracy
- Ability to demonstrate excellent organisational skills in order to manage information flows and ensure that designs are delivered on schedule
- A high degree of confidentiality and integrity is essential
- Able to work pro-actively independently as well as with others
- Advanced knowledge of Excel, Word and Creative suite knowledge such as; Photoshop, AI and ID
- Experience of working in a fast-paced retail environment
- Problem solver and ability to think on your feet, being resourceful and taking responsibility for projects
- A positive, can-do attitude and excellent collaboration skills
- Proven experience working independently under general instructions on a large variety of exciting projects
- A design qualification and/or experience within a similar position, preferably within fashion, jewellery and lifestyle industry.
