Job description
A Special Needs secondary academy school in West Croydon is looking for an experienced Secondary teacher to join their school in September to teach a class of pupils with SEMH and SEND needs.
The Role
You will be joining the school to teach a class of up to 6 pupils with SEMH needs. You will be required to teach the class the core subjects of English, Maths and Science for the class, adapting the curriculum as required to allow the pupils in your class to access learning and make appropriate progress. The main focus will be for learners to have strong functional literacy and numeracy skills.
You will be supported by 2 experienced learning support assistants within your class. You should have a highly-professional, caring and committed approach to teaching pupils with SEMH.
This role is offered on a contract basis initially. There is potential that the role will become permanent for the right candidate after the initial contract.
The school are open to applications from experienced teachers with either QTS or QTLS. Experience in Special Needs is desirable but not essential.
The Academy
This specialist academy is based in West Croydon and educates children and young people with additional learning difficulties and social, emotional and mental health needs aged 11-19. The school employs a range of techniques including emotional support, therapeutic care, and appropriate academic support. Each student enjoys a personalised programme of learning and support to allow them to reach their potential and are enabled to feel confident about their future, no matter what they have been through in life. The academy is part of a wider group providing care and education. As a result, there is excellent levels of support and training for staff to improve and develop their own skills and knowledge.
