Project Manager (Contract)
Job Summary The Project Manager is responsible for the management, performance and completion of single or multiple projects involving the development, manufacturing, installation and hand–over to Customer Service of electronic, electromechanical and software systems and equipment, assuring projects are completed within budget, schedule, contract requirements and growth of the base contract. This will include responsibility for the quality of the end products. Project values are generally in excess of 5M.
You will also be responsible for: – Managing other Project Managers
– Mentoring and developing direct reports
– Recommending strategic improvements to relevant Directors such as cross–alignment of projects, ways to address wider market opportunities, or improvements to corporate business processes, then work with them as advised to implement the improvement
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities – Direct projects involving extensive software engineering development
– Serving as the primary point of contact for the customer
– Manage, oversee, monitor and approve all elements of assigned projects from inception through to completion, including proposal development, product design, procurement, subcontracting, manufacturing, testing, delivery, installation and acceptance of products
– Review and approve technical approach, feasibility and cost estimates for projects
– Plan and direct the integration of Project team members representing various functional areas within the company
– Conduct project coordination meetings and present projects to Senior Management
– Plan and manage resource availability for projects such as engineering, manpower, production, computer support or installation facilities
– Participate in the marketing of new technology, developing potential new business and obtaining follow–on business in conjunction with Marketing personnel
– Manage commercial provisions with customers, alongside Contracts Administrator
– Responsible for change control, including negotiation of project changes and variations
– Complete each project in accordance with the company's Quality processes and procedures and within the financial approval limits
– Comply with company values and adhere to all company policy and procedures – in particular, comply with the code of conduct, quality, security and occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
– In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their Manager from time–to–time, as may be reasonably required of them
Skills/Experience/Knowledge Essential: – Full lifecycle Project Management
– Management experience, building and motivating teams
– Experience with Project Management tools including scheduling, spreadsheets and presentations
– Contract negotiations
– Experience of one or more of Smart Card System Development, IT Infrastructure (PCI DSS) or Software or Hardware Development projects
Desirable: – Management of Multi–tiered Software or Engineering Development.
Qualifications Essential: – Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification in an Engineering or other technical discipline
Desirable: – Master's Degree or equivalent in Business or Technical discipline
– Professional Project Management qualification
Personal Qualities – Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers, subcontractors and vendors and to deal with employees and Managers at all levels across all departments
– Ability to travel as needed by individual project requirements
– Ability to work effectively in pressure situations
– Ability to multi–task and effectively manage large complex systems
– Ability to manage projects with minimal supervision
