Job description
Are you looking for a challenging job in a unique learning environment?
Warren Hills is a single form entry school. We are a friendly and caring community school that has developed a nurturing approach across the different phases of the school. We are proud to have an attached nursery and self-funded nurture class - The Adventurers. There is a strong focus on mental health and wellbeing, having a counselling service in school, alongside ELSA practitioners, a mental health practitioner and a Family Support Worker. We hold the National Nurturing Schools Award. Staff and children have strong links with local primary schools within the Coalville Collaborative group of schools.
We are offering the opportunity to join our team of dedicated staff as a HLTA. We also welcome applications from experienced Classroom Assistants who have the desire to gain the HLTA qualification. The role will be based in The Adventurers Classroom, at Warren Hills School. The Adventurers area is a specialised setting with an adapted environment, offering child led, personalised curricula for a group of up to 15 children of all primary ages, with varied needs including ADHD, ASD, ODD, PDA, Social and Emotional concerns, and developmental and academic challenges. The Adventurers is a teaching classroom but also a centre for holistic child-development employing Zones of Regulation, Emotion Coaching, Nurture Principles and Executive Function skills; all of which give children the tools to re-enter main school classes. The Adventurers offers a balance of academic teaching with holistic development activities including Forest Schools, Brain Breaks, The Daily Mile, Yoga, Mindfulness, Community Involvement, and sessions building Life Skills in social communication, emotional literacy, self-regulation and happiness targeted at the needs of the evolving cohort.
In an exciting new development this year, The Adventurers has expanded to comprise a brand-new Nurture Lounge, Teaching Room and Creative Space. This expansion, together with the creation of the advertised position, will enable our growing cohort to be taught and supported in differentiated groups by multiple, independent practitioners, all of whom will be supported and managed by a teaching member of the Leadership Team. The nature of our setting means that the children’s needs and behaviours can be complex and challenging, but the opportunities to build relationships, nurture holistic development and change lives can be hugely rewarding for the right candidate. The job offers great opportunities for professional development through direct experience, professional meetings and specialised training in Emotion Coaching and Autism together with strong links to outreach support providers and specialist settings. The successful candidate will also be offered ELSA training and continuous ELSA supervision.
