Why this job matters
We are looking for a Delivery & Commercial Specialist to join BT's Mechanical & Electrical Platform.
You will help us deliver our investment & maintenance programs on the Mechanical & Electrical, Power & Cooling infrastructure. These underpin every one of BT’s services.
Your job will be to own the financials for the whole department, from identifying and forecasting funding requests, developing business cases, Defining financial outcomes for multiple projects and programs across this business unit.
You will be SME on reporting, understanding risks including commercial, operational, financial and delivery and looking after the health of our platform. You will carry out post investment and in-flight reviews. Day to day financial program hierarchy management and project code tracking, authorisation, and governance.
You will also take on some technical delivery of projects and need to be experienced in project design & implementation helping others build well defined processes on delivery and reporting.
You will become the subject matter expert on all financials, business cases and projects in delivery across a wide portfolio. You will never compromise on health & safety. We would love to benefit from your experience on continually improving processes in this area and governance of financial and delivery programs.
What you’ll be doing
Own end to end financials for this business unit. Including funding pathways, forecasting, MTP. ‘In life’ delivery of Commitment, Work in progress, receipt, invoicing, and payment.
Deliver multiple projects day to day. Identify-Forecast-Scope-Define-Accept-Prioritise-Deliver-Review-Close. Working with business stakeholders and external suppliers.
Responsible for Strategic platform lifecycle management of our Electrical assets including AICC and age profile (EoSL and H&S risks).
Develop delivery processes, reporting, tracking and review boards to underpin our investments.
Manage business cases end to end including change management.
Develop with SME’s, business investments that underpin M&E strategic growth and operational resilience. Underpin identified asset risk mitigation, working with the Design team, Operations & Field team to agree and formulate the annual OPEX and CAPEX Works Programme and budget, ensuring whole life cycle costs are identified.
Identify and control risks both financial and operational.
Help develop our wider ‘platform health’ processes and programs, initiatives, and projects for the next generation electrical estate.
Support strategic projects and departmental change.

Business/ Financial acumen: Knowledgeable in business strategy and the drivers of organisational performance, including people drivers of performance and financial literacy (e.g., business KPIs, business cases, SAP Ariba reporting.
Experience in analytics and reporting ideally- SAP analytics and Excel.
In nutshell, we are looking for someone who can manage deliveries, finance/ budgets and risk management.
Nice to have:
Hold others to account: Ability to demand high standards and values led behaviours from our suppliers.
Working alongside other subject matter experts to build an overview of works underway or in scope. Develop required and associated planning and policies to ensure seamless delivery.
A working knowledge of the Electricity at Work Act would be helpful.
Accredited Commercial / Client / Principal Designer under Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015 (CDM) would also be a bonus.
