Modern foreign Languages is a key subject within the Thomas Estley curriculum. Students study both French and Spanish during Key Stage 3. the school operates a ‘Languages for most’ policy, with around 70% of students engaging in at least one language at GCSE. Students follow the AQA scheme of study at GCSE.
Our languages department comprises of five specialist language teachers, led by both French and Spanish specialists, teaching across a suite of classrooms. Students study Languages for three lessons over two weeks at KS3 and five lessons over two weeks at KS4. Resources are well developed are integrated into the schemes of learning. Extra-curricular enhancement include residentials to places such as France.
