THE PROJECT
The University of Essex, in partnership with Tritonia Scientific, offers an exciting opportunity to a graduate with the relevant skills and experience to develop sophisticated Machine Learning techniques to accelerate the processing of seabed data received from georeferenced 3D photogrammetry. The successful applicant will be embedded in a dynamic team developing state-of-the-art computer vision and AI software for marine surveying and will have the opportunity to work with stakeholders around the UK and abroad on impactful environmental projects.
This post is fixed term for 30 months and is based at Tritonia Scientific’s offices in Oban, Scotland.
DUTIES OF THE POST
The duties of the post will include:
– To research and develop Machine Learning techniques to speed up
the analysis of georeferenced 3D photogrammetry data, in collaboration with
the project team.
– To enhance the existing Hydrophis platform at Tritonia to ensure
the available data and reporting is usable and easy to interrogate for
clients.
– To research, and put into practise throughout the project, the
various legislative requirements of different sectors within the marine
industry.
– To act as project lead, to progress the project and ensure
milestones are met to a timely manner.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
– A minimum of an MSc in Computer Science, Mathematics, Natural
Sciences or a similar discipline.
– Experience of handling large and complex datasets.
– Skilled in higher level programming languages such as Python, Java
and/or C++.
– Knowledge of machine learning techniques such as regression,
classification and deep learning.
– Experience/knowledge of appropriate frameworks and methods for
testing and evaluating machine learning models.
– Experience of 3D photogrammetry and georeferencing technology.
– Ability to present technical information to a high standard for
people from varied technical/non-technical backgrounds.
– Ability to lead a complex project with competing deadlines and
priorities.
– Excellent communication skills.
– Excellent command of written and spoken English.
