Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon
Pool Farm Vets, Crewe
The salary for the role is up to £65,000 depending on experience (pro rata for part time), relocation support of up to £5000, a welcome bonus of £5000 (pro rata for part time), as well access to temporary accommodation in the form of a 3-bed house that’s a short walk from the practice.
Here at Pool Farm Vets, we are looking for a small animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team. If you would rather do a consult only role, then we have a medicine certificate holder to support you and if you wish to further your surgical skills then one of our surgeons is an advanced practitioner in small animal surgery so can help you gain the skills and cases need for a certificate. Whatever you’re looking for, there’s a role for you at Pool Farm Vets!
Work life balance that works for you
Our flexible approach to rota patterns and working hours truly tips the scale on your work life balance. We know that everyone has demands and priorities outside of their career and we want to make it brilliantly easy for you to strike the right balance. A typical full time role would involve working 40 hours per week over 4 week days. On call is normally a 1 in 4 rota but our weekend on call consists of Saturday morning consultations until 12pm and then in-patient care only (if there are any), weeknight on-call is again in-patient only care as Vets Now cover the emergency work.
About our practice!
The practice has been family run since 2004! We have a lovely, friendly, close-knit team of 3 reception ladies, 3 Student Veterinary Nurses, 4 Registered Veterinary Nurses, 1 Veterinary Care Assistant and 6 Veterinary Surgeons. We have certificate holders in medicine, surgery and anaesthesia. We actively encourage CPD to continue this high standard. The team often enjoy ‘pub Friday’ which in summer re-locates to the cricket club so we can all enjoy the early evening sun. We are based in a very rural but bustling village called Betley which is best described as “chocolate box” on the Staffordshire, Cheshire and Shropshire border. The village has brilliant train links being only 10 minutes from Crewe station which means less than 2 hours to London and 3 hours 30 to Edinburgh. The nearby town of Nantwich is best known for its annual cheese show and jazz festival. We help to run a pet show (with an external judge!) at Betley show each August and we have a heavy involvement in the show each year. We’re equipped with Laparoscopic kit, arthoscopes, multiparameter anaesthesia monitoring, tonopen, digital x-ray and ultrasound, in house idexx lab, gastroscopes, endoscopes and rhinoscopes.
Here's what the team have to say
“One of my favourite parts about working at Pool Farm is the amount of development and support that is given to all staff members. I’ve grown so much over the last 7 years with Pool Farm, and ever since my fist day I’ve been made to feel as a valued part of the family.” – Jennifer, Vet.
