Airport Operations Controller

- Band 6 - £32,608 rising to £36,146 after a successful 3 month probationary period
- Plus 17.5% shift pay
- Shift role – 2 days (0700 – 1915) / 2 nights (1900 – 0715) - 4 on / 4 off
The role
Reporting to the Airport Duty Manager (ADM) responsible for the Combined Control Centre (CCC) and day-to-day airport operations, this role is primarily responsible for monitoring all aspects of airport operations utilising a variety of operational systems located within the CCC. This role is critical to the effective flow of information throughout the airport and the effective response and implementation of contingencies in the event of all airport-wide incidents. Required to operate within the boundaries of all applicable legislation, internal policies and regulatory requirements.
Accountabilities:
- Operating the Track Transit System (TTS) to deliver safe and compliant transportation that services Satellites 1 and 2.
- Monitoring and observing the regulatory requirements of the virtual Critical Part (CP) boundary.
- Work as part of a team delivering excellent customer service by monitoring aspects of flow and facility throughout the airport.
- Manage the effective flow of information through a variety of communication methods/systems and ensuring accurate/auditable records are maintained
- Manage incoming calls & requests, dealing with them in the appropriate manner and expected timescales
- Monitors 3rd party operations that may impact MAG operational objectives, providing support and guidance to all airport stakeholders and other airport agencies in achieving excellent customer service delivery and success
- Reporting of incidents utilising the Incident Management System
- Support and deliver against all Airport Contingency Plans and Emergency OrdersWhat will make you successful in the role?
Ideally you will have:
- The ability to develop positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Previous control room experience
- Computer literacy, especially with Word and Excel
- The ability to quickly pick up and learn bespoke computer packages.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - the post holder must be able to confidently provide information via a variety of communication channels including Radio Transmissions to all airport users and write cogent concise reports.
- Experience of working as part of a team
- A strong operational, communication and people focus
- Some awareness of data protection legislation
Also useful will be :
- Knowledge of the topography of the airport
- A working knowledge of local airport instructions
Candidates will be required to pass a Track Transit System Competency test before being progressed to interview stage. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a Medical Assessment (required for operation of the TTS system).Successful applicants will be required to have CTC (Counter Terrorism Check clearance) for this role.

The role
