Habitats & Heritage is looking for a Treasurer to join its Board of Trustees to help us  in our work for the natural and historic environment of south and west London.

What will you be doing?

H&H’s Trustees have ultimate responsibility for directing the charity’s affairs, ensuring it is solvent, well-run, and delivering the outcomes for which it has been set up. Trustees focus on H&H’s strategic direction and avoid becoming involved in day to day operational decisions and matters, which are delegated to the CEO.  The Board of Trustees always acts in the best interests of H&H, and as a group not as individuals.

We are looking for a trustee with the skills and qualifications to be able to act as treasurer to the charity.  Living in the local community of SW London, with an interest in conservation and the built environment would be an advantage. We would like to hear from people with well-developed, broad-based organisational leadership skills, who share our conviction that our heritage whether green or built matters to local communities. The most important thing is that you wholeheartedly want to see the changes we’re working to make, and are ready to help make it happen. 

What are we looking for?

• An accountancy qualification and experience of financial reporting
• Experience of management in small charities preferred 
• A commitment to the aims and values of Habitats and Heritage
• An interest in conservation and the built environment of SW London
• Ability to provide the commitment required
• Ability to work as a team
• Good communicator and collaborator
• Active contribution to the board, helping to set strategic direction, overall policy, setting goals and targets and evaluating performance, and managing risk

What difference will you make?

As a trustee you will contribute to supporting and shaping the future direction of the charity, and help us work with the local communities to achieve the charity's aims. 

The role of treasurer is so important to us to ensure that our financial controls are in place, but also to support the generation of income in-year and for future years to sustain the charity into the future.
