What's involved with this role:

Interim Early Help Advice Officer

Pay Rate: £14.91 per hour PAYE

Hours per week: 35-37 Monday – Friday, normal working hours

This opening assignment is for 5-6 months

City: SUNDERLAND

Enhanced DBS required for this role

Provide support to the Early Help Advice and Allocations Team to ensure that effective early help support is allocated in a timely fashion to children, young people and families.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor the progress of Early Help Plans and Reviews, seeking updates from partner agencies where these are missing
Cleanse on a regular basis the operating system to ensure that all open cases are being worked
Query with all Co-ordinators of Early Help (Lead Professionals) any cases which have been open for more than 12 months
Provide data on early help to senior officers for the purposes of reporting and performance management
Maintain a data-base of Child Concern Notifications (CCNs) which come into the EHAAT inbox as part of Operation Encompass
Prompt schools to share with the Council the actions they have taken when in receipt of an Operation Encompass CCN.
Record those responses.
Provide data when requested on the frequency of Operation Encompass alerts and schools’ responses
Maintain such data bases and spreadsheets of activity as are required (eg Family Group Conferencing, RYPP, Phoenix, training log etc)

Unless the DBS requirement stated above is for a Basic Disclosure, your DBS must be either through us or be accompanied by a subscription to the DBS updating service.

Qualifications:

Level 3 or higher qualification in an appropriate discipline, or experience of a similar post.
Level 2 English (Grade C GCSE or equivalent)
Level 2 mathematics (Grade C GCSE or equivalent)

Knowledge:

The problems faced by children, young people and their families nationally, regionally and locally
Legal framework pertaining to safeguarding and child protection
The Supporting Families programme
The Sunderland context and services available to support families
SEND Code of Practice

Experience:

Working with data systems and processes
Working in a challenging and pressured environment
Multi-agency, inter-disciplinary working
Relevant ICT packages

Skills & Abilities:

Communicate effectively with a range of audiences in a variety of formats (verbal and written)
Work flexibly and on own initiative
Able to work well under pressure
