Job description
Eden Scott are delighted to support our client, a higher education institute, to recruit for a Tax Advisor to join their finance team based in Edinburgh.
This is a full time, permanent position where a candidate can have the option to work remotely.
Reporting into the Financial Controller, the post holder will be responsible for providing in-house expertise in relation to indirect tax matters.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure VAT compliance for the business and other associated businesses
- Advise departments in relation to specific VAT liability and import / export queries
- Determine appropriate VAT treatment for large capital projects, an agree with HMRC as required
- Ensure timely and accurate submission of VAT returns
- Review ongoing procedures for compliance and keeping up-to-date with regulation changes
- Notify HMRC and suppliers of ad-hoc changes
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
- Prior experience in a similar role and/or relevant tax qualification
- Practical experience of applying VAT legislation
- Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills
