Job description

Learning Support Assistant Ashford Park is a popular and successful three-form entry primary school with a specialist centre for children with Autism and Communication and Interaction Needs located in Ashford, Middlesex. The successful candidate will receive full training and an induction including safeguarding training. This is a temporary contract of 3 terms initially Hours - 8.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday term time only Salary – Surrey 3 £11.33 an hour £16,519 pro rata based on 32.5 hours for 39 weeks for full time role FTE: £21,269 Salary pro-rated depending on number of hours worked We are looking to appoint enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistants to join our friendly, professional and hardworking team of staff. The role will be varied and includes supporting the class teacher, working with small groups, leading intervention groups or 1:1 with children. It is essential that the successful candidates have: GCSE A*-C level in English and Maths (or equivalent) Experience of working with children Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Flexibility to work in other roles if required The ability to work as a member of a team A patient and calm nature Willingness to engage in training It is desirable that the successful candidates have: Experience of working in a school Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs (Autism and/or language and communication) Qualifications for the post i.e. NVQ, First Aid Certificate Specific training to support children with SEN i.e. Attention Autism, TEACCH, PECs Ashford Park Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. Shortlisted applicants will be required to supply details of any unspent convictions and conditional cautions and any spent convictions and adult cautions that are not protected (i.e. That are not filtered out) as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended). If you are appointed you will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The candidate will have safeguarding training as part of their induction to ensure that children are kept safe.Start date: as soon as possible for the right candidate
