JOB DESCRIPTION
Personal Assistant A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF I am an 88 year old lady living in the Penarth area. I am a lively, articulate and sociable person. I have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s but am still physically fit and able to do my own personal care. My memory is not great and can affect my mood which leaves me very depressed at times. I am looking for a personal assistant to help me with tasks around my home, to keep my daily routine consistently in place, to provide some daily company, and to assist me when shopping and attending coffee mornings with my social group. PLACE OF WORK In my home and out in the community. HOURS OF WORK 7.5 hours per week (Monday –Friday) RATE OF PAY £12.25 per hour 40p mileage allowance TASKS INVOLVED · Help with the recycling system to ensure all items are sorted correctly · General maintenance and management of my home, for example ensuring I’ve not unplugged the fridge or telephone · Remind and encourage me to eat as I forget to eat · Assisting me with my shopping by taking me to the shop and unpacking at home · Take me to my coffee mornings with my social group · Encourage my daily routine · Giving me kind and friendly reminders of events that may have recently happened, for example, reminding me my friends have phoned me to ask after me TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED · Sensible and responsible · Experience with Alzheimer would be preferred · Patient and understanding · A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home ABOUT THE JOB Though a part-time job, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid 4 weekly basis and appropriate holiday pay given. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) Check - which will need to be carried out before employment can commence. The cost of this will be met by the Local Authority.
