This Young Person Support Worker position starts as soon as you are available, and you don't need to have qualifications to apply - induction and training will be provided.
Many Pupil Referral Units, Alternative Provisions and Special Schools are seeking cover for both daily and long-term assignments. The role
The focus of a Young Person Support Worker is to encourage young people to access education, as they will often be very disengaged from school-life.
This would be an amazing opportunity for somebody who wants to make a difference to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, and in some cases have suffered major trauma.
The school
You will offer guidance and support both in the classroom, in the community and liaise closely with parents / carers to ensure a joined-up approach is implemented across their learning journey
The working hours are 8:30am - 3:30pm Monday to Friday. This is a term-time only role.
There are opportunities for the role to become a permanent position after a qualifying period, so anyone looking for a long-term career is encouraged to apply.
Requirements
To be considered as a Young Person Support Worker, you will:
Be resilient and focused on the best interests of the pupils that you support
Be able to demonstrate empathy and understanding, be non-judgemental and open-minded
Have a passion to change young people's lives for the better
Understand Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties that children and young people can face today
Previous experience is not essential, and transferrable skills can be from your personal and professional life.
