SCIENCE TECHNICIAN (Trainee / Experienced)
30 Hours per Week, Term Time only
Mon–Fri 9am to 4pm
Grade: H2.3 – H3.5 (FTE £22,737 - £23,500)
Actual Starting Salary £15,415 - £15,933 depending on experience

We are now seeking to appoint a conscientious and enthusiastic Technician to support the Science Department . Start date asap. This is a term time only post suitable for a trainee or experienced candidate with at least A-Level standard Science qualifications.
The role involves carrying out preparatory work for Science classes, clearing away apparatus, materials and equipment after use and returning items to store and disposing of waste (including hazardous waste) as appropriate and supporting teaching staff to carry out their roles especially with regard to departmental procedures, including Health & Safety issues.
No prior knowledge of science syllabus, curriculum and specifications is necessary since full external and on the job training will be provided. The applicant should be keen to work as part of a team in a busy environment and will have good communication skills.
Full training will be provided including general Health & Safety, understanding the various demands of a busy Science department, Science syllabus, curriculum and specifications plus familiarity with technical equipment, and Science-specific health and safety.
The successful candidate will need to be flexible, quick to learn and prepared to act on their own initiative. Applications from those wishing to contribute to other aspects of school life outside the classroom are particularly welcome.
