- Looking for a fixed term contract role in Derby?
We are recruiting on behalf of a small animal hospital in Derby for a Permanent Veterinary Nurse to join their team on a 12 month fixed term contract basis. This role is to start as soon as possible and go on through to Autumn 2024.
The position offers a 4 day working week equalling 32 hours.
- Type: Small animal Veterinary Nurse - 12 month fixed term contract
- On call: 1 Night in 12 weeks on call - either Saturday or Sunday paid in addition if the Nurse is called out.

- Computer system: Merlin
- Team: 12 vets, 9 RVNs, 2 SVNs and a supportive non-clinical team
About the role
- 12 Month fixed term contract working 32 hours per week over 4 Days. Finishing in Autumn 2024. There is a 1:6 weekend rota working between 7.45am and 6pm. There is also a shared bank holiday rota equating to 1-2 bank holidays per year.
- There is on call rota involving 1 Night in 12 week rota working either Saturday or Sunday and this is paid additionally should the nurse be called in.
- The position will be based within a 1st opinion and referral hospital therefore the role will involve a mixture of both caseloads. The Nurse will rotate through all of the departments.
- Your duties will involve inpatient care, consultations, anaesthetics, reception duties, assisting the vets in surgeries, nurse clinics and inpatient care.
- The role will offer the opportunity to develop clinical skills and knowledge as the nurse will be working closely with their specialist team. Areas of special interest will be supported.
- You will play a vital role in promoting preventative health care and educating clients in this area

- Previous experience in diagnostic imaging or referrals would be an advantage along with any additional qualifications and certificates.

Package
- Salary: Up to £25,375 ( £27,550 FTE) per annum, commensurate to experience
- Holidays: 6.6 Weeks annual leave, increasing with service and birthday off
- CPD: £550 with 3 days to attend pro rata

Must haves:
