Job description

 

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.

 

 

The Role:

 

Working to support Shop Teams with the resourcing and engagement of volunteers. To grow the number of volunteers who support our shops by understanding individual their needs, increasing visibility of local volunteering opportunities and recognising the value and impact of volunteering. Support the development and delivery of a volunteer strategy through individual shop plans and build strong external partnerships. The role requires someone with outstanding people skills with an ability to take initiative and think creatively to develop new opportunities.

 

 

Please note, this is a 12 month fixed-term opportunity.

 

 

What we are looking for:

 

We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam's mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability and inclusion in all you do.

 

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

 

Be based in either Devon/ Cornwall / Bristol – Wiltshire – Gloucestershire area - to ensure effective local support.

Highly organised, able to multi-task and prioritise and complete all activities to a high standard and excellent time management skills.

Experience managing stakeholders and building relationships for professional purposes, friendly and outgoing.

A self-starter, able to work independently and use initiative in a range of situations to spot new opportunities.

Experienced in volunteer resourcing and/or management preferably gained in the charity sector

Experience in the delivery of successful volunteer recruitment drives.

The ability to consider, develop and implement new ideas to attract volunteers.

Organised with the ability to prioritise and meet targets.

The ability to work in partnership with others to deliver shared objectives and targets.

Excellent communication and presentation skills to different audiences.

Excellent IT skills and knowledge of computerised systems.

Knowledge of digital tools and social media platforms.

Knowledge of local recruitment sites such as job centres, community hubs, local groups, universities, etc.
