Role Description

Research Fellow in Low Emissions Gas Turbine Combustion

About the Role

The Research Fellow will be a key member of a team contributing to a number of research projects related to low emissions combustion experimental and analytical research and innovation. A key aspect of the research will involve the development of a rig for testing an Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) free piston engine fuelled by hydrogen. The experiments will be conducted over a range of inlet pressures, temperatures and mass with performance and emissions measurements, in order to characterise the engine performance.

About You

You will have a postgraduate qualification in gas turbines, combustion with significant relevant aerospace/automotive engineering discipline or equivalent experience. A PhD degree would be an advantage. You will have experience in experimental gas turbine or internal combustion engine research with knowledge of engine performance and emissions. Skills and experience in mechanical design of experimental rig components, installation of measurement equipment and programming of data acquisition platform are required. Good presentation and technical report writing skills are essential for frequent communication with project partners.
