Job description

What you will do in your working day

As part of the finance team you will also need to attend stocktakes each half year and help where necessary with the management accounts team.

Duties will include assisting the purchase ledger controller and credit controller in the following tasks:

Sales Ledger

• Log and file dispatch notes
• Chase missing despatch notes from DC and ETS
• Match Toyota manifests onto self-bill spreadsheets
• Reconciliation of all customer self-bill invoices against company records
• Process customer self-bills on to Sage
• Filing and archiving of all sales invoicing documents

Purchase Ledger

• File delivery notes
• Match delivery notes to purchase invoices
• Process purchase invoices on purchase order processing and non-POP
• Reject invoices to suppliers when invoices have missing information
• Log invoice queries on invoice register
• Reconciliation of supplier statements & get copies of missing invoices
• Filing and archiving of purchase invoicing documents
• Provide cover for holidays
• Other ad hoc duties within the finance department as required

The training you will be getting

The successful apprentice will obtain a full ‘Level 3 Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Standard' along with a ‘Level 3 AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting’.

The training will be delivered by Birmingham Metropolitan College on a day release basis and you will be required to attend either the Matthew Boulton Campus or the Sutton Coldfield Campus.

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

Progression to the management accounts section and the process of general ledger postings and then further into the process of management accounts function.
