Job description
What you will do in your working day
At our HVAC facility we undertake several engineering tasks which are divided into various operations, this apprenticeship will provide rotation between these business functions throughout the duration and duties will include, but not be limited to:
Manufacturing Bay:
- Brazing.
- Manufacturing aluminium pipe assemblies using various equipment and machinery.
- Manufacturing hose assemblies using various equipment and machinery.
Assembly Bay:
- Light assembly works for automotive HVAC systems, including tasks such as mechanical, electrical and pipe fitting.
- Functional testing of low voltage DC equipment before fitment.
Overhaul Bay:
- Stripping and cleaning service exchange HVAC units from locomotives.
- Re-assembly of HVAC units using new replacement parts where necessary.
Test Bay:
- Assisting with bench testing of service exchange locomotive HVAC systems before installation.
Projects Bay:
- Assembly of newly designed prototype HVAC systems for the railway industry.
- Involvement with proving and documenting HVAC performance as part of our factory acceptance tests (FAT).
Field Service:
- Supporting our service engineers with the removal and installation of equipment in the field.
- Travelling nationwide with our engineers to attend services and breakdowns.
- Supporting new installations for the automotive and railway sectors.
The training you will be getting
The Apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in Engineering Fitter Level 3.
The successful candidate will be assigned a dedicated assessor who will provide support and guidance throughout the course. This is a Day Release programme which means you will attend Lincoln College, 1 day per week, term time only. This will fall within your contracted working hours.
