This is an opportunity to contribute to a number of modules across Levels 4-7 in the suite of Construction, Surveying and Civil Engineering taught programmes including Degree Apprenticeship programmes. The key subject areas are Construction Project Management and Building Surveying, with emphasis on core subjects; project and cost planning, building design and application, construction technology and measurement, procurement, estimating and tendering for construction work. Technical experience and knowledge in these, as well as other related areas of expertise, is essential.
The successful post-holder will engage actively in applied research in a field related to at least one of the subject areas taught on the degrees within the Department and will contribute to the University’s objective of securing an outstanding reputation for research-informed learning, innovation and integrated academic practice.
You’ll come to us with a first degree in relevant subjects within built environment or equivalent at 2.1 or above together with a PhD in a relevant field. You will also have or be working towards a PGCHE, UKPSF2 or equivalent. Professional qualifications would be highly desirable. You will also bring experience of working on a research project, contributing to research groups and publishing your research in peer-reviewed journals.
You will provide high quality practice-focused teaching, participate in research project supervision, enterprise and/or professional activity to the benefit of a diverse range of students and colleagues, and also act as lead supervisor for PhD students. You will also provide expertise and access external networks using a developing national reputation in the area of activity. The successful candidate may concentrate on a combination of teaching, research, enterprise and/or professional activity.

We teach and research across a wide range of subjects, allowing for real cross-discipline innovation and creativity. Our lecturers are experts – working at the forefront of their fields and actively engaged in research so they can bring advanced knowledge to their teaching. Our state-of-the-art facilities include specialist laboratories, a public outreach centre, a specialist virtual reality centre, a rocket lab, flight simulators, renewable energy lab, and 3 new labs related to electric, electronic and robotics, as well as an advanced design studio. For future scientists and engineers, this combines to create the ultimate real-life space for practical learning. For academic professionals, this all adds up to a truly vibrant, exciting environment in one of the largest and most diverse STEM faculties in the sector.
This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £43,187 per annum.
