What will the role look like?
Reporting into the Senior Operations Manager, you will have a team of up to 13 colleagues including Technicians and Operatives. You will be responsible for managing a team as well as optimizing resources and coordinating activities to ensure operational targets are met. This in turn contributes to ensuring that departmental & site goals are delivered and achieved.
Key responsibilities include;
- Lead and manage a team ensuring they have the skills to deliver in their job and receive the necessary support, training and feedback to do their job well.
- Implement department strategy by developing and implementing business plans
- Ensure that all health and safety, quality, legal, and other company standards are adhered to in order to provide a safe and compliant working environment
- Manage the delivery of daily/weekly/monthly targets to ensure the department achieves its goals
- Define resource requirements, work planning and employee scheduling
- Effectively utilize and keep up to date with all relevant systems in order to efficiently deliver all activities
- Regularly communicate information to other departments and support them where necessary to ensure the effective delivery of wider goals and targets
- Look for ways to continually improve operational performance to ensure your department adopts a genuine continuous improvement mindset
- Identify, develop and implement procedural improvements
- Identify and deliver opportunities that add value within the department
- With the support of your line manager take personal responsibility for your own development in order to continuously learn and develop for the benefit of yourself and Arla
- Provide a bridging structure across all shifts to ensure continuity and consistency
Background/experience
The ideal candidate will have;
- 1-2 years relevant experience in an operational role within food manufacturing
- High levels of enthusiasm and a positive attitude to change & problem solving
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent
- Knowledge of Lean principles (Six Sigma qualification would be preferred but is not essential)
*Previous people leadership/management experience is advantageous*
