Job description
What you will do in your working day
The role of the BIM Support Apprentice is to support the Assistant BIM Manager in the delivery of training and troubleshooting to Bond Bryan staff in the effective and efficient use of BIM tools and processes in their everyday work.
The practice specialises in openBIM and interoperability and the apprentice will learn collaborative processes in the construction industry. The practice utilises Archicad, Revit and Solibri as their primary BIM software to create Architectural designs for projects ranging from £5M to £150M.
The duties will develop over time and the successful candidate will be a keen learner who, under the guidance of the Assistant BIM manager and the wider Central Services team, will be able to develop their skills to encompass these aspects
- Meet staff needs to a high standard by assisting the BIM Manager to ensure that appropriate BIM support helpdesk and troubleshooting are maintained
- Learn to prioritise support requests
- Work with Archicad Advanced Users and BIM specialists to troubleshoot more complex issues
- Setup Architectural 3D model files
- Learn monitoring and quality assurance systems in relation to BIM software and systems
- Assist in the planning and delivery of short- and long-term training strategies and programmes to staff, including Intranet articles, video clips and 1-2-1 training sessions
- Assess the quality of BIM models and assist teams to improve quality and reliability of modelling and data outputs, both formally and informally
- Assist in analysing BIM data requirements arising from project documents (e.g. BIM Execution Plans) and learn to advise staff on implementation and best practice
- Assist staff with training in clash detection processes
- Contribute to continuous monitoring and development of the effectiveness of systems and processes in order to improve performance and ensure best value for users
- Contribute to the implementation and roll-out of new software and versions, helping to create a smooth transition for project staff
- Work closely with other BIM specialist staff to support the sharing of knowledge and best practice
- Work with the Change and Innovation Lead to test new software and its interaction with other systems and software.
The training you will be getting
This apprenticeship is delivered as a day release once a week. You will be required to attend the Stratford Campus for training every week.
