Job description
The South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership is a trailblazing Partnership of Boston Borough Council, East Lindsey District Council and South Holland District Council. We are looking for a Director of Economic Development to join the Senior Leadership Team and shape the growth agenda across the sub-region.
As part of the Senior Leadership Team, we need someone who can continue to develop us on our ambitious journey; will have operated at a senior strategic level; will have achieved results through joint or partnership working and is confident in transforming public services.
This role plays a key part in shaping what the South and East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership delivers. You will be responsible for developing a Growth Strategy for the sub-region which drives economic and social benefit.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will have five direct reports and responsibility for economy, planning and cultural development – with a combined service workforce of around 109 employees. You will ensure through your service areas the delivery of the Sub-Regional Strategy and Annual Alignment and Delivery Plan with a focus on the provision of high-quality services to the residents, businesses, and visitors to South and East Lincolnshire.
Partnership working is core to how we operate, and the role involves the development and nurturing of partnerships to deliver public value. Influence, co-ordination, and negotiation will be key skills to develop and deliver a shared strategy for South & East Lincolnshire.
As Director of Economic Development with responsibility for economy, planning and cultural development, the successful candidate will have significant knowledge in one of these areas or similar, specifically transferable knowledge. You will also be a visionary and motivational leader with strong leadership skills. You will have a proven track record of delivering major transformation in challenging environments, working at a senior or executive level in a medium to large matrix organisation. The successful candidate will have strong partnership working experience with local councillors, MPs, and external partners both in the public, private and/or voluntary sectors.
You would be expected to attend meetings of the Cabinet/Executive, Councils and Committees so regular travel across the district is essential.
This is a politically restricted post.
