Job description
The purpose of the role is to support the Clinical Audit Manager to develop, implement and monitor an agreed programme of clinical audit and quality improvement, including relevant action planning and supporting evidence. The role will provide a comprehensive clinical audit and clinical effectiveness support service to clinicians and health professionals within the Trust.
To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare services, and act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate the Trust values.
The post holder will work alongside multidisciplinary clinical teams to effectively implement the principles and practice of clinical audit across all its component parts, within a framework which uses information to guide reflection, leading to clinical and organisational action and outcomes monitoring and providing information analysis and advice and support.
To facilitate and co-ordinate a rolling programme of Clinical Audit projects based on Trust priorities in line with National Service Frameworks and specialty specific requirements, including an agreed programme of Divisional clinical audit activity.
Work in partnership with identified leads from the acute provider system partners (Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and James Paget University Hospital) to develop and maintain joint procedural documents, where appropriate, across all three Trusts.
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) King’s Lynn is located near some of the most beautiful scenery in the UK, along the north Norfolk coast, and not far from Sandringham House.
We provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics and community-based healthcare services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire.
We have more than 4,000 staff and volunteers, approximately 530 beds, and a helipad for air ambulances. We work with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services, including as part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.
In February 2022 the significant progress that has been made at QEH was recognised by the Care Quality Commission who rated the Trust as ‘Good’ in all of the core services they inspected. They recommended the Trust moves out of the recovery support system (formerly special measures).
1. To facilitate and co-ordinate a rolling programme of Clinical Audit projects based on Trust priorities in line with National Service Frameworks and specialty specific requirements, including an agreed programme of Divisional clinical audit activity.
2. To provide support and co-ordination of Clinical Audit and other Clinical Governance activities as required, to achieve effective implementation of the Trust’s key strategic objectives, clinical and operational priorities and work programmes.
3. To assemble and analyse quantitative and qualitative information regarding Governance issues in ways that help healthcare professionals to reflect on their service and clinical practice.
4. To monitor, review and report on changes which are implemented as part of the individual Divisional clinical governance work programmes.
5. Facilitate & coordinate additional unplanned national audits not facilitated elsewhere within the team when resources allow.
6. Manage and monitor the departmental audit register (index) in relation to national and local audit activity, ensuring that outcomes are recorded accurately.
7. Complete additional ad-hoc duties as specified by the Clinical Effectiveness Manager to ensure the smooth running of the department, e.g., minutes for meeting.
