Job summary
A rewarding opportunity is available to undertake a four-year apprenticeship for the Speech and Language Therapy Degree in the September 2024 cohort.
The apprenticeship scheme allows staff to complete a qualification while working, mixing both online studying at university and 'on-the-job' learning. Your tuition fees will all be paid for by the apprenticeship scheme.

Main duties of the job The course will allow you to develop your skills and experience whilst providing excellent person-centred care. You will be expected to work as a member of a designated clinical team, delivering healthcare which focuses on the needs of the patient by carrying out specific tasks and responsibilities as directed by registered practitioners.
You will train to become a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, learning both adult and paediatric aspects of the profession through studying and placements, while working in Adult SALT services in Horsham/Hurstpierpoint/Crawley as your home base.
SALTs are allied health professionals. They work closely with carers and other professionals, such as nurses, occupational therapists and doctors.In their work with adult patients, they help with communication or eating and swallowing problems following neurological impairments and degenerative conditions, including stroke, head injury, Parkinson's disease and dementia, as well as stammering.

- 3 A-levels ABB, or an equivalent L3 qualification including:
- BTEC Extended Diploma DDD in a health care or science subject
- Access to HE Diploma in a relevant subject, with 45 credits at Level 3, including 36 at Distinction and 9 at Merit
- Level 5 Foundation degree
- An undergraduate degree already completed is acceptable as part of the entry requirements
- Three GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including Mathematics and English language. Level 2 equivalent qualifications (e.g., Functional Skills) are accepted. Level 2 qualifications must have been achieved at the point of enrolment.
- IELTs - Applicants for whom English is not a first language will require an overall IELTS score of 8, with no subtest below 7.5. This IELTS score is the threshold needed to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
As per national eligibility rules for apprenticeship funding, you must have been ordinarily resident in the UK for at least the previous three years before the start of the apprenticeship.
