Job overview

Be responsible for the co-ordination and organisation for the Acute Oncology Service (AOS) under the direction of the Macmillan Acute Oncology Nurses (MAON) and the Consultant Oncologists collectively known as the Acute Oncology Team (AOT) across a 7-day service (including bank holidays).

You will be part of a small dynamic team providing a 7 day service to patients admitted to Royal Oldham Hospital, Rochdale Infirmary and Fairfield General Hospital with acute oncology presentations.

Personal & Professional Development is one of the foundation stones of the service and actively encouraged.

Main duties of the job

Provide full administrative, clerical and secretarial support for the team and co-ordinate regular team meetings and the quarterly Acute Oncology Operational Group Meeting, this will include concise minute taking.

Be the first point of contact for patients and relatives accessing the Acute Oncology Service via telephone. This will include effective sign posting to other services and reacting appropriately to patients in emergency situations and notifying the Macmillan Acute Oncology Nurses (MAONS) of patients attending ED.
