Job Description
As a Technical Product Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the quality of end-to-end digital service delivered to a high-profile client. You will be part of a small dedicated technical team providing Azure and MS Power App critical services to a public sector client.
You will be the driving force behind developing and delivering a considerable pipeline of work. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of regulated public sector environments and the ability to collaborate as part of a high-performing, cross-functional team.
You will matrix report to the Technical Account Management team, which is part of the Platform Architecture & Engineering Practice, but day-to-day you are aligned with a client.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand the client’s existing technology platforms, application and infrastructure environments, use cases and end user estates as well as their goals to expand and extend
- Become a trusted technical advisor to the client and Telefónica Tech colleagues
- Develop and articulate a clear product vision and strategy aligned with the Clients overall goals
- Create and maintain a product backlog in conjunction with client stakeholders and the delivery lead
- Define and prioritise deliverables based on the client requirements, the pipeline, market trends and business objectives
- Clearly define and communicate the product backlog through user stories, specifications, and other relevant documentation
- Collaborate with, but not depend on, other technical team members to understand dependencies and order of technical deliverables
- Lead the product development process, working closely with delivery and technical teams to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
- Engage with stakeholders, including executives, to provide updates on product performance, strategy, and future plans
- Create, manage, update and amend all technical documentation as required
- Handle complex situations and effectively negotiate potential issues or areas of conflict, facilitating a 'win-win' situation where both parties have a comprehensive solution
- Assist in the Change Advisory Board and provide feedback on any outcome of changes raised and implemented
- Monitor to ensure performance, compliance/governance standards, and cost efficiencies, wherever possible, are being achieved
- Chair scheduled Product Management meetings and support the Senior SDM at Service Review Meetings
- Keep abreast with Agile/Scrum best practices and new trends
- Ensure the development team understand items in the backlog
- Serve as a product evangelist and subject matter expert to the technical/developer community
- Work with the technical team on proposals and Statement of Works
- Work closely with our Microsoft account teams to maintain technological expertise
- Take the lead on proposals, ensuring that all information submitted for peer review is of high quality, as well as providing positive yet critical peer review to others
Qualifications
Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Technical Product Manager with a successful track record of delivering in Azure environments
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies
- Previous experience with the Microsoft Azure public cloud
- Proficient with backlog tools such as Jira and Azure DevOps
- Thorough understanding of Microsoft Azure Cloud Architecture, including Microsoft's Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) and Well Architected Framework (WAF)
- Excellent communication skills – oral and written, with the confidence to communicate effectively at all levels
- Comfortable presenting complex or new technologies to client technical and non-technical audiences (high level)
- Experience with Application Transformation or migration to the public cloud following routes such as rehost, rearchitect, refactor, retain, re-platform and retire as part of each application or service lifecycle
- Experience using Public Cloud interfaces and command line tools to retrieve information
- Experience with consumption-based/subscription services such as Microsoft 365, including SharePoint Online and Teams
- An understanding of Linux and Windows Server operating systems, their features and limitations, and product lifecycles
