Job description
What you will do in your working day
- Duties will include helping to provide consistent and high-quality customer service in the Paul Hamlyn Library as well as helping to create learning materials to support the learning activities of UWL schools and colleges; administration of reading lists and support of print and digital collections processes.
- Alongside providing front-line help and support to our students, academics and researchers you will have a range of other cross-library tasks in all three of our teams.
- Get a taste of Library and Information work and get your career off to a great start with a Level 3 qualification.
The training you will be getting
- You will complete a Library, Information and Archive Services (LIAS) Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship:
- You will be employed 5 days a week but will have 1 day off a week for your Apprenticeship study.
- You will be expected to attend taught sessions fortnightly with Westminster Adult Education Service - 1 session a month is in person at their Lisson Grove site in West London and 1 session a month is online via Teams. This is over the period of 15 months and runs throughout the year, not only term time.
What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship
Potential to move to a permanent Grade 3 Customer Experience Assistant or Grade 4 Assistant Librarian or Customer Experience Supervisor position within UWL Library Services. Alternatively, this qualification and experience will lead to similar opportunities in other types of library and information services.
