Position Information Bass High School is a co–educational 7–12 school of 783 students. A Support Unit provides programs for 55 students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and students with autism. The school serves a diverse student population including a large portion from a non–English speaking background (65%) including students with refugee status. The school’s Aboriginal Education Officer supports our 25 First Nations students. Equity funding targets school improvement and innovation supporting teachers to collaborate and share quality practice. The school has a proud sporting tradition and provides opportunities for our students to compete in a wide variety of sports with particular success in Rugby League for both boys and girls.  Our teaching staff has a strong commitment to improving student learning and engagement through quality teaching, collective wellbeing, professional learning and a focus on literacy and numeracy. Parents, carers and a vibrantly diverse community play a valued role in the life of the school supported by the Parents and Citizens’ Association and the Community Liaison Officer.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach PD/Health/PE (PDHPE) (7 - 12), Sport, Lifestyle and Recreation (SLR) and Physical Activity and Sports Studies (PASS) with relevant capacity to deliver quality teaching and learning in a low socio-economic environment and high proportion of NESB environment. 

Capacity to contribute to the whole school sport program including coaching and coordination of sporting activities with a commitment to supporting the Rugby League program.

Working as an active team member within the PDHPE faculty and as a part of the whole school Bass High community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
