Skillsearch is helping a gaming company find a Tools Programmer to join a growing team on a full-time basis. This is an unprecedented opportunity to join a thriving independent development studio and work on a high-profile title that will be played by millions of gamers worldwide. This position is open to remote work or on-site in Galway, Ireland.
As a Tools Programmer, you will create tools for artists, designers and programmers for an unannounced high-profile PC and console title, helping them to bring out the best in their work. As part of a thriving independent development studio, you will have a significant impact and contribute on multiple levels to the games we make.
In your first few weeks in this Tools Developer role, you can expect to:
- Design and implement tools that facilitate content creators in developing game assets, both inside the Unreal editor and as standalone or DCC-based tools
- Develop tools and pipelines that will improve the productivity and autonomy of the production team
- Plan and estimate schedules for the work required to implement tools in a timely manner.
To apply for this Tools Programmer role, you will need to be proficient in C++ as well as other tools-related languages such as Python or C#. You will also require the following:
- 4+ years of professional experience in the games industry, or equivalent experience
- Shipped at least one title on PC or console
- A good understanding of UX and UI development and workflows
- Experience writing developer-facing UIs with a toolkit such as UMG/Slate or WPF/QT/Winforms/etc.
