Position Information
Hastings Secondary College was formed in 2015 with two 7-12 campuses - Port Macquarie and Westport. The College has grown dynamically with staff, parents and students working together to promote public education in an area spoilt for choice in terms of educational offerings. We have 175 dedicated teachers consisting of early career, mid–career and experienced teachers, along with support and administrative staff. The student body consists of an enrolment of 1300. The College has an Aboriginal and Torres Strait enrolment of approximately 260 students.
We have created a dynamic learning environment that provides a diverse curriculum that allows students to pursue individual pathways. There are a variety of programs and activities open to Aboriginal students including the Clontarf Academy for boys and Sista Connections for girls. The Supported Learning faculty at Port Macquarie Campus has an enrolment of approximately 50 students. Classes include Multi Categorical, Autism and IM.

Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with mild, moderate, & severe intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Disturbances, & Behaviour Difficulties.
2. Highly developed organisational & interpersonal skills that support collegiality, teamwork, collaborative practice & feedback, positive relationships & effective communication with students, staff, parents/caregivers, the community & outside agencies.
3. Demonstrated ability to develop & deliver differentiated curriculum & quality assessment for learning practices to facilitate & promote student independence & everyday life skills, including self-advocacy for students with complex learning needs.
4. Demonstrated ability to plan for, establish & maintain orderly & workable classroom routines, with the capacity to support & engage students with complex social, wellbeing & behaviour support needs.
5. Demonstrated ability to develop Personalised Learning & Support Plans to maximise student growth, promote high expectations & ensure engagement to meet the diverse needs of students, including Aboriginal students.
