Currently working on a legacy platform, the client requires a motivated and proactive data engineer with 2-3 years' minimum experience to add value to the current Data Team on both BAU work and a variety of data projects.
There are multiple opportunities to learn new skills as well as be given training from the Technical Team Leader, therefore your technical portfolio will increase substantially within this role.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Support Legacy Data Warehouse: Bug fixes, batch ETL processing and data related queries. The Legacy DW is hosted on an on-premise SQL server and utilises its satellite products such as SSIS, SSAS (multi-dimensional and tabular) and SSRS
- Improve ways to improve data reliability, efficiency and quality
- Develop and maintain datasets. This could be via external APIs, other cloud platforms, flat files etc.
- Support and enhance new Azure data platform: Ingesting data into the medallion architecture using ADF and Databricks. Transforming data using Kimball methodology. Serving data into Power BI semantic layer using Azure Synapse serverless and creating aesthetically pleasing reports.
Essential skills:
- Solid understanding of BI techniques and practices using the MS technology stack
- Power BI, DAX experience
- Commercial experience using SSRS, SSIS, SSAS
- Commercial experience developing ETL processes or using ETL tools
- 2 to 3 years using SQL, T-SQL, Stored procedures etc.
- Experience of data warehouse design (e.g. dimensional modelling)
- Experience using Azure, in particular: ADF, Databricks and Synapse Serverless.
