L3Harris in Tewkesbury and Fleet are part of our ICI division, we work closely with UK Government and Security Agencies primarily in the areas of crypto/cyber security, electronic warfare, counter drone capabilities and situation awareness projects.
We are looking for an experienced Engineering Leader with proven leadership and project delivery experience to join our Engineering team to lead the delivery of a range of exciting new projects and products.

What the role will involve
The responsibilities of your role will include the following:
- Product and project technical leadership, leading a cross-discipline team to specify, build and deliver cutting edge embedded systems for a range of domains including: Electronic Warfare, IP Communications Systems and Intelligence Surveillance & Reconnaissance (ISR).
- Leading and influencing the architectural design of complex engineering solutions drawing from a range of engineering disciplines including: analogue and digital electronics, RF, FPGA, embedded software, application software, user-interface, and mechanical solutions.
- Contributing to the generation of technical proposals, bids and supporting internal review, governance and sign-off.
- Leading and influencing other members of the Engineering, Project Management and Commercial teams to achieve a common goal.
- Guiding and mentoring engineers to support skills development within the wider team.
What you’ll bring
The role of Technical Lead requires the following experience and skills:
- Experienced senior-level engineer or scientist, degree qualified in Electronics, Communications, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Mathematics or similar.
- Experience leading and delivering projects and products.
- Experience leading teams and an aptitude to lead and influence others.
- An enthusiasm for working with new emerging technologies, sometimes outside of their immediate skill set, to solve a wide range of challenges using creative and innovative solutions.
- The ability to independently perform research and exploratory tasks using publicly available software and information sources.
Desirable skills and experience:
Specialist knowledge and experience in any one or more of the following areas:
- Communications and communication protocols (AM, FM, GSM, 4G/5G etc.)
- RF design, analysis or modelling
- IP networking and associated standards
- Public Key Cryptography, IPsec and/or key/certificate management standards and principles
- DSP techniques and application
- Machine Learning, including using frameworks such as TensorFlow, Pytorch, Keras
- Experience bidding and working within defence or government research
- Published research papers or patents
