We are working with a Local Authority in the Cheshire Region looking for a Locum Group Solicitor (Environment and Licensing) to join their busy department for a maternity cover assignment.

The successful candidate must be UK qualified and have upwards of 12 months’ experience in:

Community and Environment Law matters Planning and Highways matters Licensing and Regulatory matters Management skills and Advocacy before Courts is essential Expertise in dealing with a wide range of matters including:

Manage a small Group comprising a solicitor and licensing Attend the Courts on behalf of the Council Handle your own caseload of a wide range of complex legal matters

• Attending committees and meetings (including those occasionally held outside of normal office hours) of members, officers and/or external bodies to advise on legal issues, governance and procedure
• Good knowledge on Miscellaneous, Constitutional issues, RIPA and IPA, Certain contract issues Pay rate is between £40-55 per hour.
  The council work on a hybrid working environment. This is a full-time position.
  The local authority is looking for a candidate to start as soon as possible. Due to the urgent nature of the role, we are looking to speak to candidates available on no more than 2 weeks’ notice. Previous local government legal experience is essential.
