Job description

Our client, based in East Swindon is looking for a Trainee Hardfacing Technician/Welder to join their ever expanding team. Our clients are specialists in the production of long-lasting components from Cobalt and Nickel based alloys.  These are predominantly used in the defence, aerospace, power generation, oil & gas, and food industries in environments where high temperatures, corrosion and abrasion can limit a product’s life.

Working over a 4 day week, the ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in engineering and certified to GCSE grade C or equivalent in Mathematics.

Reporting to the Senior Hardfacing Technician, the main Responsibilities will be:

• Performing assembly and welding processes such as GTAW, SMAW, SAW, PTAW Hardfacing, Oxy-Fuel brazing and heat treatment, induction brazing and heat treatment.
• Following written and/or verbal instructions which may include engineering specifications, drawings etc.
• Willingness and desire to work towards or be proficient in, the majority of processes listed above.
• Diligent adherence to Company Procedures, Quality and any Non-Conformance reported.

Skills Required:

• Willingness and desire to learn and develop
• GCE ‘C’ or equivalent in Mathematics
• Ability to work on own initiative where appropriate and take instruction from the team.
• Ability to learn and develop within reasonable timescales.

A full learning and development program will be offered and an opportunity to progress once training is completed.
