Job description

Axcis are pleased to be working with a mixed special school of approximately 120 pupils, covering an age range of 11 to 19, with a range of physical, learning, medical and sensory needs. The role is required 2-3 days per week depending on the needs of the pupils. The school is Tamworth in a great location easily accessible via local public transport links.

. What you need to apply:
• Valid enhanced DBS – or be willing to obtain one
• Minimum of 2 references from last 12 months
• Experiences dealing with special educational needs
• Experience in Makaton or PECs would be advantageous

Job Description:
• Working alongside the main teacher following lesson plans
• Supporting the needs of the pupils with reading, writing and numeracy
• Promote the inclusion of all learners- you will act as a mentor
• Set challenging expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
• Providing 1-1 support using various resources or equipment

Pay:
• From £87.04 to £95.04 per day – can vary depending on experience

Hours:
• 2 or 3 days per week (Mondays, Tuesdays and possibly Fridays) 8.30am – 3.30pm

This position is initially temporary however there is a chance for it to be extended depending on performance.

You must have an understanding of working with young people with special educational needs and disabilities and have a real desire to make a difference.
