Countywide Climate Change Bid Writer
Location: Gloucester City Council/Hybrid Working
Salary: £34,834 - £37,336 per annum
Full time, Fixed term (1 Year)
Job Requisition Number: 8550

This will be a hybrid role working across, and with, all Gloucestershire local authorities and partners. It is hosted by Gloucester City Council, with good flexibility in the frequency that the post holder will be required to attend Gloucester City Council offices, the base location for the role. We are a dynamic local authority providing essential services to the people of Gloucester.

Our main office, based in the Eastgate Centre on Eastgate Street in the heart of the city, is an accessible, modern and light space designed for collaborative working and finding new ways to work. It's all open plan, with a living green wall and other plants without set desks, so you can sit next to someone new every day. We're always looking to improve how we work and we offer flexible and agile working to give our people a great work life balance.

About the role

This is a chance to make climate action happen; turning the objectives of a trailblazing public sector partnership into a reality.

You’ll work with the Countywide Climate Change Coordinators to support partners across Gloucestershire- to strategically identify and secure funding streams to achieve net zero outcomes. You’ll be working with partners across seven Local Authorities, the NHS, Gloucestershire Constabulary, and wider community and public partners, to maximise a whole county approach to this agenda. This role will be a go-to for advice on the climate change funding landscape. It’s also a flexible working position, accommodating those with a freelancer background or who are based outside of the county. Ultimately this role will help us to fund essential projects that will improve things for people and the environment, working alongside a supportive network of key partners in Gloucestershire.

What we need from you

To be successful in this role we need someone with a proven track record in writing and securing funding bids, preferably from national agencies and non-departmental public bodies. If you’re great at developing funding bids that’s the key requirement, but a knowledge of, or interest in, local and national climate change policy would be an advantage.

Your previous experience in project management will help monitor and report on successful bids. You’ll be an excellent communicator, with interpersonal skills enabling effective negotiation techniques to achieve a positive outcome. Experience of Maintaining partnerships, and developing multi-partner funding strategies, as well as working in or with local government would also be beneficial.
