The People Risk and Control Consultant helps to ensure the effective identification, management and mitigation of risks and incidents so that Bupa's risk management model is effectively managed in the People function.
This includes:
- Ensuring risks and controls are documented, regularly reviewed and updated in the relevant systems to enable effective reporting
- Planning and delivering controls assurance activity in line with the agreed schedule, and reporting results
- Making sure People incidents are appropriately reported, investigated and managed.
- Supporting the People Risk and Controls Manager in educating the People function in effective risk and incident management, monitoring and reporting, and assessment of control effectiveness.
The role holder will support the development and management of the BGUK People Function compliance framework, ensuring our regulatory and legislative obligations and associated risks are understood, documented and managed appropriately.
The role is responsible for the maintenance of tracking of horizon scanning insight gather from the wider team on legislative and regulatory change, and partners with subject matter experts to gather the insight needed to ensure future changes are known and acted upon appropriately.
You'll help us make health happen by:
- Supporting the Risk and Controls Manager, in partnership with the wider People Policy and Risk team, to support the continuous development, maintenance and effective operation of the BGUK Governance, Risk and Control framework within the BGUK People Function and the associated reporting required.
- Triaging and ensure the effective management of incidents in the People function, ensuring timely and appropriate response, investigation, root cause analysis and resolution action is taken.
- Working with the Risk and Controls Coordinator to design high quality, insightful reporting and analysis, presenting to leadership as required, to enable continuous improvement and mitigation of risk based on data.
- Assisting the Risk and Control Manager and the People Policy and Risk Manager in reporting to senior leadership an BGUK and Group governance forums, to ensure BGUK People function meets its legislative, regulatory and governance compliance requirements and provides effective oversight
- Building and maintaining logs/records that track compliance with our legislative and regulatory obligations, gathering horizon scanning insight from SMEs, and ensuring changes are monitored and reported to enable appropriate action to be taken.
- Supporting the Risk and Controls Manager in ensuring controls assurance activity is scheduled and delivered as planned, with support from the Risk and Controls Co-ordinator in the delivery of controls testing
Key Skills needed for this role:
- Experience in similar role, preferably working in an FCA regulated industry
- An understanding of and ability to identify risks to the business and function, including conduct risk, and able to effectively identify and monitor control effectiveness
- Intermediate knowledge of Visio and highly literate in other MS office toolsets e.g. Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability to help develop and maintain relationships is also key to succeeding in the role - at all levels, across the company. Stakeholder management skills and experience is essential.
- Experience of operation of risk and control frameworks
- Ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels, skilled in diplomacy and ability to deliver constructive feedback
- Good organisational skills and the ability to balance multiple projects in a fast paced environment
