Job Title: Communications and Marketing Manager

Locations: 182-188 Cambrai Street, Belfast, BT13 3JH

Contract: Permanent

Responsible To: Head of Employment Services

Objective: To drive positive change, with strong communication and marketing skills to effectively promote our mission and initiatives.

Hours: 35 (Monday to Thursday 8.15am-4.30pm, Friday 8.15am-12.15pm)

Salary: £33, 739 to £37, 905 per annum (new appointees normally start at the bottom of the scale)

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Communications and Marketing Manager to join our company, we are dedicated to supporting people with disabilities to gain employment opportunities. The ideal candidate will be passionate about driving positive change, with strong communication and marketing skills to effectively promote our mission and initiatives. By developing and implementing creative strategies, the Communications and Marketing Manager will play a vital role in raising awareness, improving brand visibility, and engaging various stakeholders to further our organisation's mission.

 

Job Description:

Manage the organisation's social media platforms, including content creation, scheduling, and engagement strategies, to increase brand visibility, followers, and online community engagement.

Collaborate with all teams across Usel to gather stories, testimonials, and pictures of individuals with disabilities who have been supported by Usel, ensuring that privacy and consent protocols are followed.

Coordinate with graphic designers, videographers, and other creative professionals to develop visually appealing and impactful marketing materials, such as brochures, flyers, videos, and digital content.

Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and gaps in the market in terms of employment support for people with disabilities and integrate findings into the organisation's strategies.

Plan and organise events, workshops, and campaigns to raise awareness about Usel employment programmes and social enterprises, and to encourage collaboration and engagement from corporate partners, local communities, and individuals with disabilities.

Monitor and analyse the effectiveness of communication and marketing efforts, using metrics and analytics tools, and make data-driven recommendations to improve strategies and achieve set targets

Ensure work is conducted within the context of the overall governance and management of Usel and the Department for Communities and Usel`s Corporate Plan.

 

Person Specification:

Relevant degree in business and/or marketing-related subject, or at least 3 years’ experience working in a communications and/or marketing role in a social enterprise, government department, or charity.

At least 3 years’ marketing and branding experience

At least 3 years’ experience in developing high-quality written content for different communication channels including emails, adverts, presentations, etc.

Strong understanding of disability inclusion and employment issues, as well as the broader social enterprise sector.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex ideas and engage diverse audiences.

Proficiency in digital marketing strategies, including social media management, content creation, and analytics.

Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful communication and marketing strategies across various platforms.

Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive connections with media outlets, influencers, and stakeholders.

Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, organise, and prioritise tasks effectively to meet deadlines.

Proficient in using analytics tools and metrics to evaluate campaign success and make data-driven recommendations.

Budget management skills, including the ability to allocate resources effectively and monitor expenses.

Positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
