Job description
Farm Discovery Coordinator
About the role
Have you always loved engaging children with the world around them or with the food they eat and where it came from? Do you think you could use your passion and skills to bring others such as teachers and farmers along with you on a journey to inspire children with the fewest opportunities to explore the world around them?
We are looking for a Farm Discovery Coordinator with this passion and skills to promote, organise and deliver Farm Discovery visits for schools in areas of high disadvantage. You will have responsibility for identifying and recruiting suitable host farms and schools for these visits and activities, as well as building and maintaining these relationships over time. We would love it if you had experience of leading cooking and nutrition sessions for children too.
About The Country Trust
We're a leading educational charity connecting children with the land that sustains us all. We’re on a mission to empower children to be confident, curious and create change in their lives and the world around them, so they and society thrive.
Most of us don't realise how important the land is to our daily lives, now and in the future - from the food we eat, to how healthy the soil is, how land is farmed and what that means for the environment. The disconnect means as adults, we don’t always make the best choices for our health or the environment. Most of us don’t know where food comes from, and worse, we often don’t care.
Our vision is for every child to have the opportunity to discover, first-hand, the connections between the food they eat, their own health and the health of the planet. There's never been a more important time to make this change happen.
