Job description
What you will do in your working day
- Assembling, fitting and repairing tools
- Use of hand tools such as files, stones, hacksaws and grinders
- Use of welding processes such as MIG/TIG
- Use of machinery such as lathes, milling machines and surface grinders
- Use of precision measurement instruments such as micrometers, gauges and vernier calipers
- Monitoring of the tools used in the manufacturing processes to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or possible improvements
- Attending machine breakdowns to identify root causes and solutions
- Compiling of work completion reports
- Fabrication of fixtures/jigs
- Tool disassemble activities and diagnosis for repair
- Tool improvement activities
- Preventive maintenance of tooling
- Interfacing with production personnel
- Hot runner system maintenance
- Hydraulic and Pneumatic system fault finding and repair
The training you will be getting
Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:
- Level 3 Tool and Die Maintenance Apprenticeship Certificate
- Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Foundation Competence)
- Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering
