Job description
As an Occupational Health Doctor, your main responsibility is to ensure the health and well-being of employees within the organization. You will be responsible for conducting medical assessments, providing advice on occupational health matters, and promoting a safe and healthy work environment. Your role is crucial in preventing work-related illness or injuries and promoting employee well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting medical assessments to determine employees' fitness for work, including pre-employment assessments, periodic health assessments, and assessments for employees returning to work after illness or injury.
- Providing advice and guidance to line managers on occupational health matters, including the management of employees with long-term health conditions, workplace adjustments, and rehabilitation.
- Developing and implementing occupational health programs and initiatives, such as health promotion campaigns, stress management programs, and ergonomic assessments.
- Collaborating with HR and other departments to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, such as the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Equality Act.
- Keeping accurate and up-to-date records of medical assessments, consultations, and interventions.
- Providing expert advice on occupational health issues to employees, managers, and other stakeholders.
- Participating in the investigation of work-related accidents or incidents and providing recommendations for improvement of workplace health and safety.
- Contributing to the development and delivery of training programs to raise awareness of occupational health and promote a culture of well-being among employees.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and a current license to practice medicine in the UK.
- Membership of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (MFOM) or equivalent qualification.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of occupational health legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with a diverse range of employees.
- Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing occupational health issues.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with HR, line managers, and external healthcare providers.
- Good organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Experience in conducting medical assessments and providing occupational health advice and guidance.
- Proficiency in using occupational health management systems and electronic medical records.
